On Saturday, Day 3 of the Continental High Band and Choir, trip started with the Band having a clinic at Longfellow Middle School, where they received guidance on their performance. While this was happening the Choir members and some of the Adults went shopping at TJMAXX, Starbucks, 7-11 and Panera. The group reconvened and then went to the Washington Mall area to go to lunch in the Reagen Building. After a nice lunch (15 different offerings) the group walked over to the Mall and went to Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of American History, or have fun at the Kite Flying Festival. The group then walked past the Washington Monument on their way to the Lincoln Memorial. The Choir performed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and then the Band performed and closed with a rousing edition of the Pirate Fight song. It was awesome to see a steady (large) stream of people walking along the reflection pools from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Monument stop to take in the Pirates sound with many recording and sharing online. The group then took a bus to the Hard Rock Cafe (which is across the street from the Ford Theater) for supper. Next was a walk to the National Theater for an inspiring performance of Beauty and the Beast. Lots of walking and memory making was done today.
