The regular monthly meeting for the Continental School Board was held at 7:00 p.m. on November 19, 2013 in the administrative office. President Dean Bidlack called the meeting to order.
Hearing of the Public:
Mr. Brian Gerdeman, Elementary Principal, reported:
•The Sheriff’s deputy complimented all of the students and staff at the elementary for their completion of the lock-down drill on Tuesday.
•The elementary student council collected 1787 items for their food drive. These items will be donated to food pantries in Continental and Dupont.
•Grandparent’s Day will be Friday, November 22. There will be various activities throughout the morning at each of the grade levels.
•December 3rd will be the elementary Christmas program at the high school auditorium at 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. and will feature Grades 4, 5, & 6. Also performing will be the 4th grade recorders and the elementary show choir.
•Parent/Teacher conference sign-up is currently under way. Conferences will be held on Monday, November 25th from 3:00-7:00 p.m and Tuesday, November 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Tim Eding, JH/HS Dean of Students, reported:
•Congratulations to the cast and crew for a very well done production of “The Beverly Hillbillies” last weekend. A special thanks to Mrs. Krutsch and Mrs. Manon for directing the play.
•The state required lock-down drill took place Tuesday morning.
•We’ve been seeing about 8-12 students staying after school for homework help on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
•Congratulations to the following students who earned a spot in County Band and Choir: Val Geren, Vernon Prowant, Andi Krendl, Noah Emmons, and Brian Thacker in band and Bridgette Shelton, Gabbi Ridgeway, Madison Mansfield, and Gabe Recker in choir.
•No school next week. Parent/Teacher conferences are Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Athletic Updates:
•Meet the Team Night will be Thursday, November 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gym.
•Basketball seasons officially begin with girls on this coming Saturday; boys next Friday.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Board:
•Accepted the following donations:
$250 from the Blue and Gold Club to the Athletic Fund for Sport Pass Sponsorships
•Approved a return of advance from the Cafeteria Fund (006) to the General Fund (001) for $6,648.41.
•Approved the Depository Agreement with The First National Bank of Pandora for a period of five years (12/16/13 to 12/15/18).
•Approved insurance premiums for January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014. This is a 5% increase over the previous year; Dental rates are unchanged.
Superintendent’s Report:
Mr. Mengerink, Superintendent, reported:
•The transportation report was heard. Bus drivers were commended for their efforts to reach every student during storm cleanup efforts.
•The Board thanked the voters for the recent passage of the Permanent Improvement Renewal Levy that was on the November ballot.
•The Straight-A-Fund grant application that was submitted for Continental School passed the first round. We will find out December 16th if we make the next cut.

•Approved the second reading of NEOLA policies for Continental School.
•Approved Tracy Potts, Tammy Baker, Jordan Streicher, Hannah Davis, Diana Ordway, Pam Rayle, Mindi Bradford, and Toby Bidlack as winter concession workers and established rates of pay:

•There will be no school during the week of November 25-29. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held: November 25th from 3:00-7:00 p.m.; November 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
