Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community:
It pains me to be writing this letter, but COVID-19 has reached our community. As of tomorrow, Continental Local
Schools will have over 15% of the staff unable to attend work mainly due to being contact-traced to another person
outside the school district. Although COVID-19 is not directly affecting the district, the indirect impact of not
having enough staff to effectively monitor and educate students in the building is forcing us to institute our remote
learning plan for Wednesday, November 18th through Friday, November 20th.
It is our hope by making this difficult decision now; we will be able to return to the classroom after the
Thanksgiving break. During school on Monday and Tuesday, teachers will provide students and parents direction
on what the expectations will be over the remainder of the week.
Finally, if you had a parent-teacher conference scheduled for November 23rd or November 24th, we will be in
contact to discuss moving that meeting to a virtual conference. Please stay tuned for more information about
parent-teacher conferences.
Recap:
1. We will have school on Monday and Tuesday.
2. We will be instituting our remote learning plan for Wednesday through Friday.
3. We hope to return to regular instruction after Thanksgiving break.
4. The decision to move to remote learning is due to a lack of staff caused by outside forces. We have seen no
evidence of spread in our buildings.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact my office at 419-596-3671.
Sincerely,
Danny F. Kissell, Superintendent
