Parent-Teacher Conferences for grades K-12 are scheduled for Monday, November 21, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Tuesday, November 22, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. School will not be in session for students during the week of November 21 due to these conferences, a teacher
in-service day and the Thanksgiving holiday break.
Parents of high school students are encouraged to take advantage of these conference days and are asked to schedule appointments in advance by calling the high school office at 419-596-3871 beginning Tuesday, November 1, between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm. It is especially important for parents desiring to see more than one teacher to schedule in advance so that additional trips to the school will not need to be made.
This is a great opportunity to visit with teachers and learn ways in which your child could better succeed in the classroom. Parent involvement in their child’s education is as important as any other factor in making sure students have a successful educational experience.
HOW TO PREPARE
1. Please plan to be on time for your scheduled appointment.
2. Think what you want to learn about your child from the teacher and write down questions. This is the most important part of your planning.
Questions you may wish to ask might be:
• Are you, the teacher, satisfied with my child’s work?
• Do you anticipate my child being able to complete grade level mastery skills?
• How does my child get along with the other children?
• Does he/she participate in class discussions?
• Does he/she complete his/her assignments?
• What can I do to help them?
• Questions your child might want to ask.
3. Volunteer information that will help the teacher understand your child’s health, eyesight, hearing, reaction to school, home interests, clubs etc.
4. Please realize that conferences are set up for every 15 minutes, and many teachers have parents scheduled every 15 minutes throughout the day. If you feel more time is necessary, then another meeting should be scheduled as you finish your appointment, since another parent may be waiting.
We hope the conferences will be beneficial for you, your child and the teacher.
