4/30 – Continental’s JV team played through the raindrops at Columbus Grove today and fell to the Bulldogs, 17-7 in 6 innings. After trailing 11-0 after 4 innings, the Pirates fought back with a 7-run 5th inning. Unfortunately, the JV team could not stem the tide, and Grove added 4 in the 5th and 2 more in the 6th to win the game.
Top Hitters:
Konnor Okuley was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and 2 steals and a run scored.
Bryce Slattman had a double and 2 RBI in 3 AB.
Cole Bowers was 1-for-3 with an RBI single, a run scored, a stolen base and a walk.
Alec Kent Murphy went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored.
Chris Potts was 1-for-1 in his lone plate appearance.
And Steven Huizenga, Isaiah Good, Dylan Coleman, and Jarret Keck all drew walks as part of the 7-run 5th inning rally.
Our pitchers had varying levels of success, but errors hurt their cause. Murphy, Potts, Coleman, Keck, Bowers, and Slattman pitched for Continental.
It was good to see so many parents make the trip to Grove today! The varsity is scheduled to play at Ottawa-Glandorf Monday at 5 pm.
5/1 – In today’s tournament draw, Continental drew #1 seed Arlington. The Pirates will play at Arlington on Saturday, May 7th at 11 am. If we upset Arlington, we would play Columbus Grove with the right to advance to Districts. The other bracket contains Ottoville-Ft.Jennings with the winner playing Leipsic. Tomorrow’s game is at Ottawa-Glandorf at 5 pm with the bus leaving at 3:45 pm.
5/2 – Our game at Ottawa-Glandorf has been cancelled due to the rain. We play at home vs. Lincolnview tomorrow.
