CELEBRATE!! On July 9, 2024, Continental Senior Connections held their first meeting — it is time to celebrate our 1st year! We will be meeting on Tuesday, July 8 at 11:30 in the Small Hall at the Continental American Legion. All are welcome. We don’t check ID’s at the door as we don’t care how old you are or where you are from. If you feel you belong hanging out with senior citizens, we will take you. There is no membership or dues. Our name is Senior Connections because that is our mission – keeping our senior community connected to programs and services available and most importantly, connected to other seniors.
Post Covid, many seniors have become almost shut-ins and we hope to change that. In the past year we have hosted program speakers: Dr Stacie Hicks, Mayor Matt Miller, Pam Jones (Fall Prevention), Steve Coble (Cast Iron Cookware), Jan Winkle (Diamond Art), Jeannie Crumrine (Watercolor Painting), Joni Swager (Personalized Genealogy Books), Todd James (American Red Cross) and more. We’ve also brought a Tai Chi class to Continental along with informal chair exercise classes. We’ve had monthly Chat & Chows where we gather at an area restaurant for lunch or dinner. We’ve also hosted game and craft times. In the coming year we are looking for more ways to offer senior citizen activities in our community (and beyond).
Join us on July 8th – we will be ordering off the menu, Karen will share some upcoming events and the year in review and we all will be eating cake! Its a celebration, bring a friend!
