In a little over 24 hours before the games were to begin the OHSAA changed the game times and location in response to local COVID mandates. The State Football Championships (Divisions II to VII) were scheduled to be played this weekend at Fortess Obetz in Southern Franklin County. On Wednesday OHSAA announced a change in game times that would allow all games to be finished by 10 pm as requested the Governors statewide curfew. Each game would start 45 minutes earlier. On Thursday the OHSAA met with teams in the finals to announce a change of location. Due to new guidelines issued by the Franklin County Health Department, a change in venue for the Finals was announced. This, a little more than 24 hours before the Division VII State final game. Massillon Washington, a previous state final host, had agreed to host the finals. For the Division II game Akron Hoban was assigned home for their championship game against Massillon Washington. So far games have went off without issue.
