
A big second half rally by Continental High Girls Basketball offset an offensive challenged 2nd quarter as the Pirates defeated visiting Ayersville on Tuesday night. Senior Oliva Crossgrove had a big second half putting in 10 and paced a balanced Pirate comeback. It was even after 8 minutes of play as both teams scored 15. The Pirates 15 was fueled by three 3 pointers (2 by Morgan Shock and 1 by Kamryn Searfoss), Mckenzie Shock making a pair of basket and Crossgrove making a 2 pointer. It was all Pilots in the second quarter as the Pirates only score was a Morgan Shock basket. The Pilots added 9 to their total to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room.
The Pirates made up the 7 point difference in the third quarter as they poured in 17 points to the Pilots 10. Crossgrove made 3 baskets to pace the Pirates in the third while Mckenzie Shock added 4 points, Searfoss a 3 pointer, Ella Siefer and Cassie Pier both scored 2 points. 34 all heading into the 4th. The Pirates took the fourth 13-10 with Kinley Stegbauer and Crossgrove both scoring 4, Searfoss hit her third 3 pointer of the night, and Mckenzie Shock added a basket. Pirates 47-44 winner.
The Pirates were led by Olivia Crossgrove with 12 points. McKenzie Shock added 10 points. Kamryn Searfoss put in 9. Morgan Shock scored 8. Kinley Stegbauer added 4 while Ella Siefer and Cassie Pier both scored 2. Continental had a 5-2 advantage from 3 point land with Searfoss hitting 3 and Morgan Shock making 2. The Pirates were 2-4 from the line while the Pilots were 6-9.
Continental improves to 6-6. Ayersville falls to 4-8. The Pilots took the JV game 18-6.
