David “Howie” Thomas, 54, of Weston, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, September 13, 2014.
David was born in Lima, Ohio to Donald R. and Norma J. (Cass) Thomas. He married the love of his life Kim (Vollmar) Thomas on January 13, 1990 in Weston, Ohio and she survives him in Weston.
Along with his wife Kim, David is survived by his sons: Jeffrey and Jason Thomas both of Bowling Green; his mother: Norma J. Thomas, of Continental, Ohio; sisters: Rachel (Mike) Mingus, of Continental, Ohio; Dorothy (Timothy) Heishman, of Continental, Ohio; a brother: Mark A. Thomas, of Continental, Ohio; father-in-law: Lawrence Vollmar, of Weston, Ohio; mother-in-law: Joan (Bob) Compo, of Palm Springs, Florida; sisters-in-law: Penny (Tom) Hanna, of Tampa, Florida; Cindy Borders, of London, Ohio; Tammy Crow, of Wauseon, Ohio; brothers-in-law: John Vollmar of Weston, Ohio; Shawn Compo, of San Jose, California; a host of loving nieces, nephews; and “Uncle D” to 3 great nieces and 2 great-nephews. David also leaves behind nephews Brandon and Brad along with a niece Brittany whom considered David to be more like a “Dad”.
He was preceded in death by his father: Donald R. Thomas on September 10, 2012.
David attended Continental High School. He worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio. David had many hobbies he enjoyed but especially loved playing golf with his sons, nephew and friends. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Detroit Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. David also enjoyed watching NASCAR especially following Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Every year David looked forward to taking his two sons to listen to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra during the annual Holiday Concert. David became a friend to anyone who had the privilege of meeting him. He was the “Life of the Party” he will be missed for his great smile and his great jokes!
Visitation for David will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY 1460 W. Wooster Street/ P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Tele: 419-352-2171. Funeral Services for David will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME REMEMBRANCE CHAPEL. Interment will follow in the Weston, Cemetery.
