David V. Slattman, 1955 – 2025

CONTINENTAL – David V. Slattman, 70, of Continental, passed away at 7:41 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2025, at The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus. He was born March 1, 1955, in Lima to the late Augustus and Lois (Tracy) Slattman. On May 3, 1975, he married Joanna Burgei, who survives in Continental.

  Other survivors include three children: Kerry (Michael) Sebring of Defiance, Jason (Monica) Slattman and Matthew (Lindsey) Slattman, both of Continental; nine grandchildren: McKayla and Paige Sebring, Jaxson, Alexi and Carson Slattman, and Fynn, Liam, Hugh and Orry Slattman; two siblings: Pam Sigler of Defiance and Sally (Mike) Guilford of Ottawa; and two sisters-in-law: Brenda Slattman of Continental and Judy Slattman of North Creek.

  He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Richard Slattman, Gary Slattman and Ida (Marvin) Ankney; and three grandchildren: Audra Sebring, Brittany Sebring and Noah Slattman.

  David retired from Philips, Ottawa. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially going to all his grandchildren’s sporting events. David also enjoyed golfing, bowling at Ottawa, listening to music and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Tigers.

  Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental with Fr. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

  Memorial donations may be made to Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research in care of The James or Putnam County CAP.
