Literally. It’s GOBA time! The editor/writer (myself) will be vacationing with the other 2500 riders on the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure. It’s Sunday through Saturday, always starting on Father’s Day, with two rest days. Urbana is the start/end town this year so I picked up my registration packet (#1806), went to the Bike Safety class, bought supper from the 4-H Club, and hung out with some friends. Tonight I am spending the night in the back of the truck at the Champaign County Fairgrounds and have plans of getting up at 5:30am and peddling down the road by 6am in the morning.
My sister and her husband (GOBA 2x), one of my best friends and her husband (newbies) and another couple from Continental (she GOBA 2x and him, a newbie) are also along on the trip. Husband Larry says he prefers a bike with a motor for his vacation. I have been packed for a week because I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking of things I needed to pack. Then I would wake up fearing windy days, flat tires, and bike wrecks. But—woot! woot! —-its finally here!
I hope to post each day depending on good internet connection so readers can follow along if they like. It will be business as usual for the eNews so keep sending in articles. I hope by sharing GOBA (the best kept vacation secret!) others will hop on their bikes and get the GOBA spirit!
