It was a steady stream of traffic in and out of Independence Dam State Park late Saturday (3/15) afternoon as people drove out to watch the broken-up ice going over the dam. While above the dam, it was smooth and calm, barely seeming to be moving and yet below the dam (not really below as it was nearly level) the waters churned ferociously with large chunks of ice and logs. Yes, even though a gallon of gas is $3.65, it was worth the drive across the river to see Spring is on its way!
