Frederick D. Rau, 1948 – 2025

Frederick D. Rau, 76, passed away peacefully while listening to his beloved Cleveland Indians baseball team at his home in Taylorsville KY on June 1st.

Fred was a loving father to his daughter, Marnie, and son, Cary, and a proud grandfather to Jordan, Andrew, Bea, and Karsen, and great-grandfather to Lily and Brooks. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support touched the lives of his family and friends, leaving a lasting legacy of love and kindness. 

Fred, who retired from General Motors on June 1st, 2000 after 34 years. He was also an active member of a HAM radio club and could often be found tinkering around the yard. Fred proudly served his country from 1968-1971 in the US Army. Fred is survived by his daughter, Marnie Shartzer (Kolbi), son, Cary Rau, and his committed  partner Sandra Burton. Sister Cindy Zinser (Jeff) and brother Mike (Tracey), 6 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Rau, a brother Charles, a niece, Alysha Zinser, and his parents, Donald and Louella Rau.

A graveside service will be held at Monroe Township Cemetery, Continental on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:30 with a meal to follow at 1pm at the American Legion Continental Post 541,located at 109 South Fifth Street, Continental OH. . In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your local veterans organization. Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
