Posted on the Putnam County OH Sheriffs Office Facebook page (1/2/2020):
With the new year underway, Putnam County accomplished a great feat in 2019. The map posted here shows the number of fatal traffic accidents in Ohio by county. As you see, Putnam County is blank. That means the number was ZERO! NO ONE was killed on Putnam County’s roads this past year! Not only that, the total number of traffic accidents went from 494 in 2018, to 371 in 2019 according to the ODPS Electronic Crash System, a roughly 25 percent decrease!
We are very proud of this and you should be too. There are several agencies in our great county that we have to thank for this. It is a collaborative effort to enforce the traffic laws here to keep our roadways safe, and help those that are involved in accidents to keep injuries and deaths to an absolute minimum. This was accomplished by the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol and Dispatch, as well as all the village police departments, fire departments, Putnam County EMS, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. We definitely need to thank Putnam County ODOT and the Putnam County Garage as well for maintaining our roads and keeping them safe and clear, especially through the winter months.
On top of that, we want to thank YOU for your safe driving. We are proud to protect and serve the great citizens of Putnam County and all those who travel through. Let’s keep the same feat going for 2020!
