The regular meeting for the Continental School Board was held at 6:00 p.m. on April 18 , 2017 in the administrative office with the regular monthly meeting following. The meeting was called to order by the president Dean Bidlack.
Mrs. Tracy Potts, Elementary Principal, reported:
1. Second grade classes went to Science Central in Toledo.
2. Congratulations to the 3rd-6th graders that participated in the Perennial Math Competition in Bowling Green.
Congratulations to the third grade team that placed 2nd in the group competition and the 4th/5th grade team placed 3rd.
3. Mark Brecht will be doing a K-9 presentation on Friday.
4. Kindergarten Screening will be Thursday, April 20th. We currently have 48 students for next year.
5. The third grade students will be going to Farm Safety on April 20th.
6. The ELA state testing is complete. Students will take the state math test starting on Monday, April 24th with Science and Social Studies the following week.
7. Science night will be Monday, April 24th. This event is paid for through the 21st Century grant.
8. The spring art show for Continental students will be held Friday, April 28th from 4:30-7:00pm.
9. The after-school program will end on Friday, April 21st. We served over 70 students in the program.
10. UPCOMING DATES: May 8-12 – Right to Read Week; May 11 – Talent Show at 1:30pm; May 24 – Relay for Life/Field Day.
Mr. Tim Eding, JH/HS Dean of Students, reported:
1. Congratulations to the Cast and Crew of the school musical, The Wizard of Oz. The show was very well done! Thank you to all who helped, including Mrs. Heil, Mr. Swonger, and Mrs. Jones!
2. Last Wednesday was the midterm of the 4th quarter. Progress reports for students earning D’s and/or F’s will go out tomorrow.
3. The juniors will be taking the ACT tomorrow at the Legion. Thank you to the Legion for making the space available for the students to test and for making them lunch after the test.
4. ELA End of Course Exams are finished for grades 7-12. Math, Science, and Social Studies tests will begin on Monday, April 24th.

– Approved a tentative list of seniors (31) who will be graduating on Sunday, May 28, pending passage of all state and local requirements.

– Approved Jeff Prowant as a part-time cook at 2.5 hours per day, 184 days per year and issued him a one-year limited contract, effective August 22, 2017.
– Approved Taylor Williamson as a summer custodial helper on an “as needed” basis at $8.25 per hour.
– Approved the following supplemental contracts, pending proper certification and satisfactory FB/BCA background checks, if applicable, for the 2017-2018 school year:
