November 13, 2018 by Karen Donaldson

Continental High School Forward Alex Hoeffel was awarded OSSCA Girls Soccer Division III All State First Team honors. Hoeffel started the year by establishing a new school record for “Goals in a Game” at 7 against Wauseon. Next she scored her 100th Goal against Delphos Jefferson. She also set the new record for Career Goals against Putnam County League rival Fort Jennings. Sara Coble previously held the record with 106 goals. Hoeffel ended up with 43 goals for the year and her career goal total sits at 129. The last Pirate to achieve First Team All State was Zach Schwarzman in 2014. Hoeffel has been named to the Division III All State Second Team the past 2 years.

Alex is one of three underclassmen on the 17 person First Team. No one on the Pirates Girls schedule was named to the First Team. Two Putnam County athletes, Lauren Langhals (Kalida) and Natalie Koenig (Miller City), were named to the Division III Girls Second Team All State. Overall, the Pirates faced five girls who made All State Second Team Honors.

There were no Putnam County League Boys receiving All State Honors. Archbold’s Josh Kidder was named to the Division III First Team and Player of the Year. Overall, the Pirate Boys faced five athletes who received All State Honors.
