CHS Class of 2014 Honor Graduates

Emily Bowers is the daughter of Jerry and Beth Bowers. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a member of Hugh O’ Brian’s youth alumni. Emily has earned the Presidential Volunteer Award by earning up to 238 volunteer hours with Hugh O’ Brian’s youth organization. Emily has served as a part time employee at Goodwill. She has also been a post secondary student at James A. Rhodes State College since her sophomore year. She has also served as a volunteer at local Red Cross blood drives. Emily plans to attend Sinclair Community College majoring in radiology and ultrasound.

Matthew Bracken is the son of Craig and Lisa Bracken. He is an honor graduate and is vice president of the National Honor Society. Matthew is a member of the Continental High School Band and is the section leader of the percussion. He participated in Varsity basketball and soccer and was a captain for the soccer team. He was active in the school musicals and plays. He is a member of the Continental United Methodist Church and it’s youth group and is part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Matthew is a blood donor for the American Red Cross and helps out at the local food pantry. After graduation Matthew will be attending IPFW and majoring in mechanical engineering.

Austin Mansfield is the son of Tim and Dawn Mansfield. He participates in varsity soccer, basketball, and baseball. He is also a captain of each sport. Austin has been active in ACME and fall baseball. He also helped at the mini soccer camps and with the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade basketball program. He is a SAY soccer referee and has volunteered at the local food pantry. Austin is a member of the National Honor Society. Austin has been accepted into an apprenticeship at GROB Systems

Whitney Miller is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Miller. She is president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the senior class and Spanish Club vice president. Whitney is a member of Free Christian Church of God and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Her activities have included varsity soccer and track. She is also a Project MORE mentor and elementary student tutor. She is involved in several volunteer activities including the Red Cross blood drive, kids soccer camp and she volunteers at a local equestrian therapy riding center. Whitney has been involved in Camp Marengo Missions and has gone on several mission trips with them. She is currently employed as a nurse’s aide at the Laurels of Defiance and will be attending Northwest State Community College majoring in Registered Nursing.

Paige Ordway is the daughter of Denny Ordway and Gina Unterbrink. She is the treasurer of the National Honor Society and vice president of the student council. She is a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive and Salvation Army. She is a captain of the varsity soccer and basketball team, and also participates in varsity track. Paige also helped with the 4th 5th and 6th grade girls’ basketball. She participated in the fall play and is a member of the United Methodist Church. Paige will be attending The Ohio State University next fall.

Vernon Prowant is the son of Mitch and Deb Prowant. He is currently the president of the Continental FFA. His other activities include: four years of baseball and basketball, helping coach 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys basketball, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, concert, marching and county band. Vernon attends the Dupont Church of the Brethren and is also on the youth boards and a church usher. Vernon plans to attend The Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute and major in Agribusiness.

Bridgette Shelton is the daughter of Jessie and Ashley Shelton and Jody Camareno. She is the Secretary for the senior class. Her activities include varsity soccer, varsity track, and drama productions. She is a member of the district, county, and her high school choir. Bridgette is involved in Spanish Club, Task Force for Youth, tutoring, and is Reporter for the Continental FFA Chapter. She works as an STNA at the Laurels of Defiance and Kingsbury Place Assisted Living in Defiance. Bridgette plans to attend college to receive an associate’s degree in nursing and go on to obtain her bachelors degree and paramedic certificate.

Dru Troyer is the daughter of Stephanie Troyer and Jesse Troyer. Dru participates in varsity volleyball, track, and has participated in basketball. She is a statistician for the varsity boys’ basketball team and is a captain of the volleyball team. Dru is the senior class Treasurer and is also a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in Spanish Club. She is a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. In the fall Dru will be attending Walsh University majoring in Physical Therapy.

Kiana Warnement is the daughter of Chris and Tara Warnement. She is the secretary of the National Honor Society and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She volunteers at the Red Cross Blood Drives and with the Salvation Army. She also volunteers to help with the Continental Community Clean Up Day. She was involved in the Spanish club and attends the Continental United Methodist Church. Her activities include varsity soccer and varsity softball and she is a captain of both. Kiana will be attending Northwest State Community College in the physical therapist assistant program.
