Hornets Find PCL Tough as Pirate Take 4-1 Boys Soccer Game

On Saturday Cory Rawson’s undefeated boys Soccer team picked up loss #1 when Ottoville defeated them 5-0.  On Tuesday the Hornets picked up loss #2 to another Putnam County League team when host Continental got the win 4-1.  Braxton Stegbauer led the Pirates with a hat trick and put in the first goal 12 minutes into the game off a Hunter Varner.  Stegbauer put the Pirates up by 2 three minutes later when he scored his second goal.  Pirates 2-0.  The Hornets halved the Pirates lead with 22:38 left in the half.  Pirates 2-1 at half.  The second half was all Pirates as Stegbauer picked up his third goal of the day when he converted a penalty kick with 18:53 left.  Pirate Collin Davis finished up the day’s scoring when he put in a pass from Rhettik Bowers.  Pirates 4-1 winners.

Braxton Stegbauer led the Pirates with 3 goals while Collin Davis added 1 goal.  Hunter Varner and Rhettik Bower both had an assist.

Goalie Jayden Pitney picked up the win with 2 saves.  The Pirates had 11 shots on goal to the Hornets 3.  Continental took 5 corner kicks to the Hornets 1.

Continental improves to 4-3-1 and will host PCL rival Ottoville on Friday night.  Cory Rawson falls to 6-2.
