It Was a Win & a Loss for the Pirate Boys

Pirates Moves to 7-1 With Win Over Bears

Pirate Rhenn Armey picked up his 4th hat trick of the season to propel Continental to a 4-0 win on Thursday over Bryan in nonleague action.  Armey put the host Pirates on the board first with a goal 5 minutes into the game.  That would be it for the scoring in the first half.  Pirates 1, Bears 0 at half.  Pirate Peyton Wilson opened up the second half scoring 8 minutes into the half when he put in a goal off a Braxton Stegbauer pass.   Armey picked up his second goal 11 minutes later to put the Pirates up 3-0.  Armey completed the days scoring and picked up the hat trick when he put in a pass from Konnor Knipp Williams with 14 minutes left in the game.  Pirates 3, Bears 0.

Rhenn Armey scored 3 goals for the Pirates while Peyton Wilson put in 1.  Braxton Stegbauer and Konnor Knipp Williams picked up one assist each.

Konnor Knipp Williams picked up the shutout win as goalie for the Pirates.  Knipp Williams made 6 saves on the day.  Continental had 15 shots on goal while Bryan had 7.  Continental had 4 corner kicks while Bryan had 2.

Continental improves to 7-1 and will travel to Riverdale on Saturday.  Bryan falls to 3-3.  Continental took the Junior Varsity game 5-0.

Falcons Over Pirate Soccer Boys

Saturday a battle between two OSSCA Northwest Ohio ranked teams was decided in a 15 second span late in the second half as host Riverdale defeated Continental 4-2 in a nonleague game.  Riverdale controlled most of the action in the first half and put in that half’s only goal when they blasted in a shot at 30:25 minutes into the game.  Falcons 1-0 half.    The Pirates tied the game at 1 with 23:40 left in the game when Rhenn Armey scored and Alex Sharritis got the assist.  The Falcons would regain the lead when they converted a penalty kick at the 19:56 mark.  The Pirates would make it 2-2 with 17:24 left when Rhenn Armey would pass to Alex Sharritis who then beat the goalie for the tie.  With 9:50 left Riverdale would take a 3-1 lead when they put in a second from  the 30 to make it 3-1 Falcons.  The Falcons would tack on goal number 4 just 15 seconds later when they converted a crossing pass off.  Falcons 4, Pirates 2.

Rhenn Armey and Alex Sharritis both had a goal and an assist for the Pirates. Continental had 4 shots on goal and 4 corner kicks.  Riverdale had 7 shots on goal and 4 corner kicks.   Konnor Knipp-Williams was goalie of record for the Pirates.

Continental entered the game ranked #6 in the OSSCA Northwest Ohio Division III Poll while Riverdale was ranked #5.  Continental falls to 7-2 and will host Lincolnview on Tuesday.  Riverdale improves to 5-1.
