
An early game (9:00 am) at the Delphos Jefferson practice field yielded a 5-3 decision going the Jeffcats way in Girls Soccer. The game started with the Jeffcats putting 3 defenders and the goalie in the penalty box for the whole game. It left the Pirates with lots of shots around lots of traffic. The Jeffcats got on the board first at 36:12 when they put in a volley in front of the Continental goal. The Pirates would tie it less than 6 minutes later when Bryn Tegenkamp put in a shot. The Pirates would take their only lead of the game with 17:30 left in the half when Morgan Dockery floated a shot over the Jeffcats goalie form the right corner of the penalty box. Pirates 2-1. The Jeffcats would tie the game when they converted a penalty kick with 7:09 left in the half. The Jeffcats would regain the lead with 2:56 left in the half when they put in a transition shot form the 15. Jeffcats 3-2 half.
The Pirates would tie the game with 12:01 when Tegenkamp would convert a penalty kick from a hand ball in the box. The Jeffcats would take the lead for good when they converted their second penalty kick with 7:28 left. Wildcats 4-3. The Jeffcats would put in an insurance goal with 12 seconds left. Jeffcats 5-3.
Bryn Tegenkamp had 2 goals for the Pirates while Morgan Dockery had 1.
Marissa Becher was the Pirate goalie of record and she had 7 saved. The Pirates outshot the Jeffcats 43-17.
Continental falls to 2-4 and will open their Putnam County League portion of the schedule on Tuesday at Fort Jennings. Delphos Jefferson improves to 2-2-1.
