From the Putnam County Dog Shelter Facebook page, March 6th:
This is what happens when you get a new puppy, leave the dog outside, feed and water the dog once in a while, never pay attention to the your new puppy and as the puppy gets bigger – never adjust the collar! The result, the collar grew into the dogs neck. The collar caused an injury of about 1 inch wide and was about 4 inches in length. into the dog’s neck. Dogs take a lot of time to train, interact with, feed, water and take care of. ALL DOGS ARE LIFETIME COMMITMENTS! This poor guy has been treated for his wounds and was surrendered to Fort Defiance Humane Society in Defiance County. The dog was originally at a address in Putnam County near the Defiance County Line. If you can’t take care of a dog…then never get a dog!
And just to the north of us…..
From the Fort Defiance Humane Society Facebook page, dated 2/28/18:
Today, our humane agent received a call about what appeared to be a dog found along the river near Domersville Road under the bridge. The dog appears to be light brown, medium sized, with half of a tail.
Upon further investigation, the dog had been tied up at the feet, we believe skinned, decapitated, wrapped in a brown towel, then placed in a black garbage bag and thrown in the river. The pictures are horrific. The feeling of not saving this animal is indescribable.
This happens every where. Every day. Every single day innocent animals are tortured while the perpetrator walks freely.
To us, this is unacceptable. We are here to be their voice. To give animals their second chance, to love them, to not allow them to be abused, abandoned, or discarded ever again.
This happens in our county. In our town. In our backyards. Be the force to end animal cruelty. Do not stay quiet. Be the somebody that saves an innocent soul.
