Although results were different from the first time Continental and Kalida Volleyball teams had met on the court this season it does not diminish the great Pirate season. The Putnam County League game on September 12 went to the Pirates in a hard fought 5 game match. This time it was all Wildcats in a game played at Crestview. The first game was hard fought but went the Wildcat way 25-20. It was all Wildcats in game 2, 25-11. Game 3 ending the match and the Pirates season went to the Wildcats 25-14. Kalida 3-0.
Senior Delaney Bowers led the Pirates with 10 kills and 8 digs. Senior Rhaegan Marshall had 11 digs. Kenzie Searfoss had 2 aces and 5 digs. Teaghan McDougle had 22 assists. Macie Clemens 2 assists. Aislynn Noffsinger 10 digs.
Continental bows out of tournament play with a 14-9, much improved from the 2022 7-16 record. Kalida improves to 19-5 and will face Crestview on Tuesday at 6:00 in OHSAA DIV Van Wert District Semifinal. Crestview advanced with a 3-0 win over Pandora Gilboa. The other side of the bracket has Miller City playing Leipsic. These teams were the top 4 seeds of the Van Wert District and have a combined 81-9 record.
