The Pirates got off to a great start on Tuesday at Kalida as they plated the first run in the Putnam County League baseball game. The Pirates plated a run in the first as they got a double from Brady Dockery. That would be it for the Pirate offense as a Wildcat pitching change with no outs in the first would be effective. The Pirate 1 run lead held till the fifth inning when the Wildcats would plate 6 runs. The Wildcats would end the game in the bottom of the sixth when they scored 5 more runs.
Nick States pitched 5 innings for the Pirates and took the loss. Brady Dockery’s double was the only hit for the Pirates. The Wildcat relief pitcher pitched 6 innings and got 18 Pirate strikeouts while yielding 2 walks.
Continental falls to 5-11 (1-5 PCL) and will play at Ft. Jennings on Friday and will host Columbus Grove in a PCL game on Saturday. Kalida, ranked 10th in Division IV, improves to 12-2 (5-0 PCL).
