
Friday night was all about scoring points from the field as host Kalida made the only 3s (eight) and had a 9-7 advantage from 2 point land over Continental. Both teams started hot with the difference being the Wildcats hitting from 3 while the Pirates were making 2 pointers. The Wildcats started the game out with a 5-0 lead thanks to a 2 and 3 point basket. The Pirates got baskets from Jonathon Etter and Brady Thomsen. Wildcats 5-4. Another 5 point Wildcat run put them up 10-4. A pair of Carson Etter free throws would cut the Wildcat lead to 4, 10-6. A Wildcat free throw was followed up by basket a by Jonathon Etter and a pair of free throws by Brady Thomsen and it was again a 1 point game, Wildcats 11-10. The Wildcats 3rd three of the quarter and a free throw made it 14-10. Carson Etter would make a basket to make it a 2 point game after 1, Wildcats 14-12. The Wildcats would open up the second quarter scoring with a free throw to make if 15-12. Monty Rayle made a basket for the Pirates to make it 15-14 Wildcats. The Wildcats would finish off the half by hitting their 4th and 5th three and a basket while the Pirates would get a free throw from Jonathon Etter and Carson Etter. Wildcats 23-16 at half.
The Wildcats put the game away in the third as they poured in 19 points while holding the Pirates to 4 made free throws (3 by Jonathon Etter and 1 by Brady Thomsen). Wildcats 42-20 after 3. The two teams played even in the fourth as the Pirates would get 7 points, 4 from Jonathon Etter, 2 from Brady Thomsen, and 1 from Carson Etter. Wildcats 49-27 final.
Carson Etter led the Pirates with 12 points. Brady Thomsen put in 7, Jonathon Etter, and Monty Rayle 2.
Continental falls to 2-17 (0-6 PCL) and will host Holgate on Saturday for Senior night. Kalida improves to 4-16 (3-4 PCL).
