Katheryn “Kathy” Colleen Elkins, 1952 – 2022

KALIDA – Katheryn “Kathy” Colleen Elkins, 69 of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.  She was born on August 16, 1952 in Hawthorne, CA to the late Forest Merle “Bill” and Betty Dean (Ford) Epps.  On September 15, 1972 she married Doyle R. Elkins, he survives in Kalida.

  Katheryn is also survived by two sons: Darrin K. (Susan) Elkins of Florence, SC., Loren (Amanda Bush) Elkins of Shawnee; two daughters: Erica (Phillip) Tucker, and Andrea (Brian) Hammond, both of Cloverdale; seven grandchildren: Ansley Elkins, Camryn Elkins, Taylor Tucker, Brooke Tucker, Gage Hammond, Lucas Hammond and Cullen Hammond.

  She is preceded in death by a son, Troy Elkins, and two brothers, Bill Epps and Charles “Chuck” Epps. 

  Katheryn was a 1970 graduate of Perry High School.  She had retired from Whirlpool, Findlay in 2017.  Katheryn was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.  She also enjoyed volunteering with Bible School and Sunday School Classes.  She was an avid bible collector, and loved to study the bible.  Katheryn also loved to watch her grandkids in their sports and activities.

  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at Dupont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Doug Price and Jeff Rhees officiating.  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Kalida High School Music Boosters.
