Keller Takes DIII 5th at State

Continental High Hurdler Katie Keller will be getting her picture up in the cafeteria!  Keller placed 5th in the 300M Hurdles in the OHSAA Division III State Track and Field Finals held at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University on Saturday.  Keller ran a 46.17 in the finals.  A close finish for first had Calista Manns (Grove City Christian) beat Carly Jacobs (Garaway) by .01 seconds.  Manns had a time of 43.37.  Third place Whitney Schaefer (Grand View Heights) at 45.73.  Jenna Clouse (Old Fort) had a 45.94.  Ottoville’s  Quinley Schlagbaum came in seeded ninth but finished right behind Keller at 46.26.  Keller was the only non-senior to finish in the top 6 in the 300M Hurdle finals. 
 
Putnam County League teams claimed 3 first place finishes with Carlee Siefker from Leipsic taking first in the Long Jump.  Kalida’s Girls 4x100M Relay team took first in an exciting finish that had them win by .01 seconds.  Kalida Senior Josh Verhoff finished off his career by taking 1st in his final high school race in the 200M.  Verhoff won in dominating fashion setting a new Division III State Meet Record and overall Division III record.
 
West Liberty Salem took the Girls Title with 50 points while Archbold finished second with 39 points.  Columbus Grove was 13th with 16 points, Kailda 16th with 15 points, Leipsic 25th with 10 points, Continental 47th with 4 points, Ottoville 51st with 3 points.  East Canton took the boys title with 42 points while Columbia Crestview took second with 36 points.  Kalida finished 11th with 18 points.
