
Saturday afternoon had two teams trying to improve on their seeding for tournament. Host Continental was looking to impress by taking on a 1 loss Paulding team two divisions up. The Panthers were looking to put a stamp on a top 3 seed in their DV District. A couple of Panther runs in the first half put them up comfortably at half and then it was all Panthers in the second half.
The Pirates opened up the scoring with an Olivia Crossgrove basket. A basket by the Panthers and another by Crossgrove gave the Pirates a 4-2 lead. An 8 point Panther run was stopped by a Morgan Shock basket. Panthers 10-6. A 7 point Panther run was stopped by a Shock free throw. Panthers 17-7. A Panther basket finished off the first quarter scoring. Panther 19-7 after 1. A Panther basket and a pair of Shock free throws made the score 21-9 early in the second quarter. The teams traded points again with the Panthers hitting a pair of free throws and the Pirates getting a Kamryn Searfoss basket. Panthers 23-11. A Panther 3 point play was matched by a Searfoss 3. Panters 26-14. The Panthers hit a 3 to finish off the second quarter. Panthers 29-14 at half. It was all Panthers in the second half as they put in the only points of the third quarter. Panthers 44-14 after 3. The Panthers would outscore the Pirates 8-2 in the fourth with Shock making a basket for the Pirates. Panthers 52-16 final.
Morgan Shock led the Pirates with 7 points. Kamryn Searfoss added 5. Olivia Crossgrove put in 4. The Panthers had a 5-1 advantage from 3 point land with Searfoss hitting for the Pirates. The Pirates were 3-4 from the line while the Panthers were 8-10. Continental falls to 7-12 and will travel to Wayne Trace on Tuesday. Paulding improves to 18-1.
