On Monday night Continental Girls soccer team played host to the Van Buren Black Knights. In the latest Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches poll Continental was ranked #8 and Van Buren #9 so the fans were expecting a good match between two quality teams. Both teams did not disappoint in the defensive struggle that had lone goals scored in each half. Pirate Alex Hoeffel did all the scoring in the match as she took a pass from Paige Lawhorn in the first and put it in the goal. In the second half Hoeffel did the same but from a pass from Katie Keller. That was it for the scoring. Pirates 2, Knights 0.
Continental outshot Van Buren 20-18. Pirate goalie Ashley Mansfield was credited with 10 saves.
Continental moves to 6-1 and next hosts Northwood on Saturday. Van Buren is now 3-2-3.
