Buzzer-beater Defeats Lady Pirates
All it took was a shot off a rebound at the buzzer that propelled a Maumee Valley Country Day School girl to 13-ABC athlete-of-the-week status on Monday December 12 while defeating visiting Continental. Pirate Bryn Tegenkamp put in 11 in the first quarter to stake the Pirates to a 11-8 lead after 1. A low scoring second quarter had the Pirate put in 4 (Tegenkmap 3, Makenzie Shock 1) while the Hawks scored 3. Pirates 15-11 at half. The Hawks made up the 4 points in the third quarter by outscoring the Pirates 13-9. Macie Cordes had 3 for the Pirates in the 3rd while Tegenkamp, Olivia Logan, and Reese Knowles all had 3. A high scoring fourth quarter had the Pirates with 14 (Cordes 6, Tegenkamp 4, Logan 4, and Shock 1) while the Hawks put in 16. Hawks 40-38 final.
Bryn Tegenkamp led the Pirates with 20 points. Macie Cordes had 9 points, Olivia Logan 5, Makenzie Shock and Reese Knowles 2 each.
Commodores Best the Lady Pirates in OT
On Monday (12/19), it was all host Lima Perry in overtime as they shutout Continental High Girls in non league action. A close 1st quarter had the Commodores with a 1 point lead 7-6. Macie Cordes put in 4 for the Pirates and Bryn Tegenkamp 2 in the first. The Commodores won the second quarter and took a 17-13 lead at half. Olivia Logan put in 4 in the second quarter while Mackenzie Shock scored 2 and Tegenkamp 1. The Commodores doubled up on the Pirates in the third quarter 6-3 for a 23-16 Commodore lead after 3. Tegenkamp had 3 for the Pirates in the third. It was all Pirates in the fourth as they put in 13 (Tegenkamp and Shock 4 points, Cordes 5, and Logan 2) to the Commodores 6. 29 all after regulation. It was all Perry in the overtime as they put in the only points (10) in the extra time. Commodores 39 29 final.
Bryn Tegenkamp led the Pirates with 10 points, Olivia Logan had 7, Macie Cordes and Makenzie 6 each.
Continental falls to 0-9. Lima Perry improves to 6-5.
