Lady Pirates Over Eagles in Senior Night, Tegenkamp Steals PCL Record

January 26, 2023 by Adam Donaldson

Pirates came into Senior night looking to end the 2023 home portion of the season on a winning note, they won and celebrated more than just the win.  Pirate Senior Bryn Tegenkamp etched her name in the Putnam County League record book for steals in a season.  The old record was 130 steals by Ottoville’s Karla Wenzlick (96) and Kalida’s Sondra Ehrnsberger (89).  For the game Tegenkamp had 7 steals and is currently sits at 134 steals for the season.
It was visiting North Central that came out looking to ruin the Pirates night as they took the first quarter 10-9.  The Pirates would open up a 8 point lead at halftime by outscoring the Eagles in the second quarter 14-5, Pirates 23-15 at half.  The third quarter was even as both teams scored 13.  Pirates 36-28 after 3.  The Eagles won the fourth quarter by 1, 14-13.  Pirates 49-42 final.
Senior Bryn Tegenkamp led the Pirates with 20 points.  Senior Olivia Logan added 10 points.  Olivia Crossgrove and Makenzie Shock both scored 6.  Senior Macie Cordes had 5 points and Senior Cheyenne Rose 2 points.  Tegenkamp and Logan both made a pair of 3s for the Pirates while the Eagles made two  3s.
Continental now has a 2 game win streak and improves to 2-16.  The Pirates will travel to Paulding on Saturday looking for 3 in a row.  North Central falls to 1-15.
Congratulations the Pirate seniors Bryn Tegenkamp, Reese Knowles, Olivia Logan, Macie Cordes and Cheyenne Rose on a well played season so far.  Good luck in all your future endeavors.
