
On Tuesday Continental hosted Kalida in both teams Putnam County League Softball openers. In a game that saw 32 hits and 20 runs it was the Pirates that prevailed on both counts. The Pirates opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first by plating 3 runs. The Wildcats plated a run in the second only to see the Pirates open up a 6 run lead in the bottom half of the inning. The Wildcats added a second run to their total in the third while the Pirates added 2 to make it 9-2 after 3. A scoreless fourth saw the Wildcats rally with single runs in the fifth and sixth to make it 9-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth. The Pirates put 3 more runs on the scoreboard to make it 12-4 heading into the final inning. The Wildcats rallied with 4 runs but it was not enough as the Pirate claimed the 12-8 victory.
Amber Logan got the win for the Pirates. Logan also led the Pirate hitting by going 4-4. Macy Collier was 3-4 with a home run. Jessica Stauffer was 3-4 with a triple and double. Kennedy Hiltner was 3-4 with a pair of double. Riley Fenter was 2-3 with a triple and Addyson Armey hit a double. Overall the Pirates had 18 hits.
Continental improves to 2-3 (1-0 PCL) and will host Riverdale on Friday. Kalida drops to 0-2 (0-1 PCL).
