
Thursday night the Continental High Girls Varsity picked up win 3 over visiting Holgate. The last time the Pirates had 3 wins was when the current Seniors were Freshmen. These Seniors (Mckenzie Shock, Olivia Crossgrove and Ella Siefer) combined to score 29 points. It was all Pirates as they opened up the game with baskets from Mckenzie Shock and Olivia Crossgrove to take a 4-0 lead. The Tigers would drain a 3 to cut the Pirate lead to 1. The Pirates put in the last 7 points in the first with Morgan Shock hitting a 3 and making a free throw, Mckenzie Shock making a pair of free throws and Olivia Crossgrove making 1 free throw. Pirates 11-4 after 1.
Mckenzie Shock put up the first 7 points of the second quarter as she made a 3, a basket and a pair of free throws. The Tigers scored the last point of the quarter with a free throw. Pirates 18-4 at half. The Pirates added the first 4 points in the second half thanks to a pair of free throws from Ella Siefer and a basket by Mckenzie Shock. Pirates 22-4. A basket by the Tigers was followed by 9 Pirate points with Mckenzie Shock hitting a 3, Kinley Stegbauer putting in 4 points and Olivia Crossgrove making a basket. Pirates 31-6.
A free throw by the Tigers and a basket by Olivia Crossgrove and the Pirates took a 33-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Brystol Fitzwater and Olivia Crossgrove opened up the fourth quarter scoring with baskets. Pirates 37-7. A Tiger free throw was followed by another Olivia Crossgrove basket. Pirates 39-8. Both teams scored 3 points to finish off the game with Lenora Schomburg nailing a 3 for the Pirates. Pirates 42-11 winners.
Mckenzie Shock led the Pirates with 16 points with 4 steals and 5 rebounds. Olivia Crossgrove scored 11 and had 7 rebounds. Morgan Shock and Kinley Stegbauer both scored 4. Lenora Schomburg hit a 3. Ella Siefer and Brystol Fitzwater both scored 2 points. The Pirates made four 3 pointers (Mckenzie Shock 2, Morgan Shock and Lenora Schomburg 1 each) while the Tigers made 1. The Pirates were 10-18 from the line while the Tigers were 4-10.
Continental improves to 3-5 and will travel to Ada on Saturday December 20.
