A big 2nd and 3rd quarter by Continental High Girls Basketball proved to be the difference when the Pirates faced Northwood on Wednesday. In a make up game, the Pirates outscored the Rangers 32-10 in the middle quarters to claim a lead and the managed to hold off a Ranger rally to pick up win #2. It was a close first quarter that went the Pirates way 8-6. The Pirates padded their lead by 10 taking the second quarter 13-3. Pirates 21-9 at half. The Pirates added 12 more to their lead by taking the third quarter 19-7. A furious comeback by the Rangers came up short as they outscored the Pirates 19-4. Pirates 44-35 victory.
Ava Sheeter led the Pirates with 18 points and two 3 pointers. Kamryn Searfoss added 11 with three 3 pointers. Morgan Shock added 8 with a pair of 3 pointers. Kenzie Searfoss added 3 points. Becca Stark and Ashlyn Dudgeon both scored 2. The Pirates made seven 3 pointers while the Rangers made 1.
Continental improves to 2-13 and will host Pandora Gilboa on Saturday in a Putnam County League game. Northwood falls to 2-16.
