
Lady Pirates 2, Delphos St John Blue Jays 1
There is a reason the Girls Soccer games last 80 minutes cause sometimes you need that last minute to decide the winner and that was the case on Tuesday as Continental High rallied in the second half to defeat Delphos St Johns. The host Blue Jays put in the only goal in the first half when they scored with 3:17 left in the half. The Pirates put in the tying goal just over 10 minutes into the second half when Makenzie Shock hit the back of the net off an Adrianna Jones pass. 1-1 tie. With just 34 second on the clock Pirate Maeci Dockery scored the winning goal off a pass form Makenzie Shock. Pirates 2-1 winners.
Makenzie Shock and Maeci Dockery both scored a goal for the Pirates while Shock and Adrianna Jones picked up an assist each. Mackenzie Niese picked up 3 saves in the win as Pirates goalie. Continental had a 20-5 advantage on shots and a 17-4 advantage on shots on goal. Continental had 8 corner kicks to the the Blue Jays 6.
Continental improves to 2-1 and will host Wauseon on Thursday. Delphos St Johns falls to 2-2.
Lady Pirates 2, Wauseon Indians 0
After a scoreless first half the host Continental High Girls Soccer team took a lead early in the second half and added an insurance 11 minutes later for the 2-0 win over visiting Wauseon. It took Continental a scant 10 seconds into the second half to get on the scoreboard when Makenzie Shock hit the back of the goal off an Adrianna Jones pass. The duo teamed up for the Pirates second goal 11 minutes later with Shock getting goal 2 and Jones assist 2. The Pirates then kept the Indians in check for the 2-0 win.
Makenzie Shock led the Pirates with 2 goals while Adrianna Jones picked up 2 assists. Mackenzie Niese had 4 saves in the goal for the Pirates. Continental took 27 shots (17 on goal) while Wauseon took 8 (4 on goal). Continental had 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Continental improves to 3-1 and will travel to Fort Jennings on Tuesday for their PCL opener. Wauseon falls to 0-5.
