
Lady Pirates 2, Hicksville Aces 4
Monday Continental softball travelled to Hicksville for non league action. The Pirates took an early lead with a run in the top of the first innings. The Pirates took a 2-0 lead with a run in the top of the fifth. The Aces put 4 on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams were held scoreless the rest of the game. Aces 4-2 final.
The Pirates had 3 hits. Leah Searfoss hit a triple and drove in a run. Becca Sullivan had a hit and drove in a run. Kenzie Searfoss walked, stole 2 bases and scored a run. Mallorie Barnhart was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Ava Homier hit a single and stole a base.
Gracie Homier took the loss in the circle for the Pirates going 6 inning giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits 11 strikeouts and 2 walks. Continental committed 3 errors while the Aces committed 2. Continental falls to 11-3 and will travel to Miller City on Tuesday for a Putnam County League game (postponed due to weather). Hicksville improves to 11-4.
Lady Pirates 27, Perry Commodores 1
On Thursday Continental Softball had Senior night recognizing Seniors Mallorie Barnhart, Kimberly Grant, and Mackenzie Niese. Combined they have earned 9 letters and have enjoyed a 41-27 record to date along with an 18-2 record in the PCL. The Pirates played Lima Perry on Thursday and the game was all about the Commodores pitching struggles as they walked 22 batters and gave up 11 hits. The Pirates took control of the game in the bottom of the first as they scored 11 runs. The Pirates added 9 more runs in the second to take a 20-0 lead. The third inning had the Pirates score 1 run. Pirates 21-0. In the top of the fourth the Commodore scored a run to make it 21-1. The Pirates would add 6 more runs in the fourth for the 27-1 win.
Mallorie Barnhart hit a home run and drove in 4 runs. Kimblery Grant hit a homer drove in a pair of runs and scored 3 times. Kenzie Searfoss hit a pair of triples, scored 3 times and drove in 5 runs. Gracie Homier hit a double and single, scored 4 times and drove in 3 runs. Mackenzie Niese hit a double and single, scored twice and drove in 3 runs. Rachel Matthews hit a double and scored a run. Becca Sullivan hit a single and scored a run. Maeci Dockery scored 3 times, Chloe Larry and Leah Searfoss both scored twice, and Ryley Winkle scored once. The Pirates earned 22 walks and stole 9 bases.
Gracie Homier picked up the win in the circle giving up 1 run on 2 while striking out 11. The Commodores made 8 errors while the Pirates had a clean sheet. Continental improves to 12-3 and will travel to Miller City on Friday for a key PCL game. Lima Perry falls to 0-11.
