
Last year Arcadia Girls Basketball won 20 games and this year seems like they reloaded. Continental High travelled one hour east to take on the Redskins on Saturday afternoon. The Redskins opened up the scoring with a pair of 3s and a basket to take an early 8-0 lead. The Pirates would stop the run with an Ava Sheeter basket and a free throw from Morgan Shock. A pair of Redskin baskets was followed by a Sheeter 3. Redskins 12-6. A Redskin free throw and a Pirate Sheeter basket and it was a 4 point game. The Redskins would finish the quarter with the last 12 points to take a 25-8 lead after 1. The Redskins would score the only points of the second but the Pirates spirited defense held them to 9 points. 34-8 at half. The Redskins put in the first 8 points of the 3rd quarter to take a 42-10 lead. The Pirates offense picked up the pace the rest of the quarter as they would outscore the Redskins 9-5 with the Pirates getting a pair of baskets from Sheeter, a basket and pair of free throws from Oliva Crossgrove and a free throw form Morgan Shock. Redskins 37-17 after 3. The Redskins took the fourth quarter 8-6 with the Pirates getting a Sheeter 3 a basket from Cassie Pier and a free throw from Shock. Redskins 55-23 final.
Ava Sheeter led the Pirates with 14 points including a pair of 3s. Oliva Crossgrove scored 4, Morgan Shock 3, and Cassie Pier 2. The Pirate made a pair of 3 pointers while the Redskins made 6. The Pirates were 5-8 from the line as were the Redskins.
Continental falls to 0-6 and will travel to Holgate on Thursday. Arcadia improves to 4-1.
