
A Saturday afternoon saw a big scoring from Pirate Morgan Shock get offset by four Rockets who put up double digits as Pandora Gilboa defeated host Continental in Putnam County League Girls Basketball play. The Pirates claimed the first points as Kamryn Searfoss hit a 3. A trio of Rocket baskets put them up 6-3. The Pirates would retake the lead 7-6 as Mckenzie Shock would make a pair of free throws and Morgan Shock a basket. The Rockets would finish off the first quarter scoring by putting up another 10 points while the Pirates got 2 from Olivia Crossgrove. Rockets 16-9 after 1. The Rockets opened up the second quarter by hitting a 3 and a pair of free throws. Rockets 21-9. Morgan Shock made a pair of free throws to make it 21-11. A pair of Rocket 3s extended their lead to 16, 27-11. The Pirates would get a pair of free throws from Crossgrove and a basket from Cassie Pier to make it 27-15. A Rocket free throw and basket put them back up by 15. Rockets 30-15. Searfoss would make a basket. Rockets 30-17. A pair of baskets by the Rockets finished off their scoring for the half. Morgan Shock would make a basket to make it 34-19 Rockets at half.
Morgan Shock would put the Pirates on the board first with a 3 to make it a 34-22 game. The teams traded points with Morgan Shock hitting a pair of free throws for the Pirates. 36-24 Rockets. A 4 point Rocket run was stopped when Crossgrove made a basket. Rockets 40-26. A Rocket free throw and a Searfoss basket made it a 13 point game. A 3 by the Rockets was followed by a Morgan Shock free throw. Rockets 44-29. A 6 point Rocket run was stopped by a Morgan Shock basket. Rockets 50-31. The Rockets would finish the third off by putting in 5 while the Pirates added a Mckenzie Shock free throw. Rockets 55-32 after 3. The Rockets put the first basket in in the last quarter. Morgan Shock then hit a pair of 3s. Rockets 57-38. A 6 point Rocket run was stopped when Morgan Shock put in a basket. Rockets 63-40. A three point play put the Rockets up 66-40. Both teams would score 4 points to make it Rockets 70-44 final. Mckenzie Shock and Kinley Stegbauer would score for the Pirates.
Morgan Shock led the Pirates with 22 points. Kamryn Searfoss added 7. Olivia Crossgrove scored 6. Mckenzie Shock put in 5. Kinley Stegbauer and Cassie Pier both scored 2. The Rockets had a 5-4 advantage from 3 point land with Morgan Shock making 3 and Searfoss 1 for the Pirates. The Pirates were 10-16 from the line while the Rockets were 9-13. Continental falls to 7-11 (0-6 PCL) and will host Paulding on Saturday. Pandora Gilboa improves to 9-8 (2-3 PCL).
