
Thursday night was Girls Basketball Senior night at Kalida High as they took on a depleted Continental High team in a Putnam County League game. The Pirates were missing a number of rotation players who were out ill. The Wildcats came out and hit a 3 to start the game. Pirate Ava Sheeter made it a 1 point game with a basket. Wildcats 3-2. An 11 point Wildcat run was stopped when Kamryn Searfoss would make a basket. Wildcats 14-5. A Searfoss 3 came between a pair of Wildcat baskets to finish off the quarter. Wildcats 18-7. The Wildcats hit a basket and a 3 to take a 23-7 lead. Sheeter would make a free throw to make it 23-8. A Wildcat basket and a Searfoss 3 made it 25-11 Wildcats. And then it was all Wildcats as they would make a 3 and 2 to take a 30-11 lead to the locker room.
It was all Wildcats in the second half as they would put in 20 points in the third quarter and 9 in the fourth while the Pirates would only get a pair of Sheeter free throws in the third quarter. Wildcats 59-13 final.
Kamryn Searfoss led the Pirates with 8 points including a pair of 3s. Ava Sheeter put in 5 points. The Wildcats made nine 3 pointers to the Pirates 2. The Wildcats were 5-10 from the line while the Pirates were 3-4.
Continental falls to 3-15 (0-6 PCL) and will travel to Paulding on Saturday. Kalida improves to 11-6 (3-2 PCL).
