
On Saturday (12/7), Continental High Boys Basketball were on the road for the first time this season and were met at Lincolnview with a large crowd and a huge pep band hampering the Pirates effort was losing a starter to injury. It took the revised Pirate lineup to find a groove and the Lancers opened up the game with a trio of 3s and a pair of baskets for a 13-0 lead. Pirates got on the board when Collin Hammond made a free throw to make it 13-1. The teams traded baskets with Hammond converting for the Pirates. A 3 by the Lancer was followed up by a Monty Rayle 3, Lancers 18-6. One last 3 by the Lancers (they made 5 in the first) closed their scoring at 21 but the Pirates got a 3 from Rayle and Quinn Tegenkamp to make it Lancers 21-12 after 1.
Rayle opened up the second quarter scoring with a basket and now it was a 7 point game 21-14. The teams traded baskets with Hammond scoring for the Pirates 23-16 Lancers. The Lancers would take control of the game with a 15 point run, Lancers 38-16. A Tyson Clementz free throw broke the Pirate scoring drought. A Lancer 3 was followed by a Pirate 5 point run fueled by a pair of Rayle 3s. Lancers 41-23. The Lancers would score the last 5 points of the half. Lancers 46-23 at half. The third quarter was close with the Lancers scoring 12 to the Pirates 9 wiht the Pirates getting 6 from Rayle and 3 from Hammond. Lancers 58-32 after 3. It was all Lancers in the final quarter. Monty Rayle led the Pirates with 20 points including four 3 pointers. Collin Hammond had 8 points. Tyson Clementz and Quinn Tegenkamp 3 points each with Tegenkamp’s coming off a 3 pointer.
Continental falls to 0-4 and will travel to Fairview on Friday. Lincolnview improves to 2-1.
