
A big night from Senior Madi Sharp was not able to overcome the scoring of the visiting Lincolnview Lancers in non league Girls Basketball action Saturday night. The Lancers started the game out by putting up the first 5 points. A pair of free throws by Sharp ended the Lancer run and made it 5-2 Lancers. A 9 point Lancer run was stopped by a Sharp field goal. 14-4 Lancers. The two teams exchanged a pair of field goals to finish the quarter. The Pirates goals were both hit by Addyson Armey. 18-8 Lancers after 1.
The Lancers opened up a 14 point lead by scoring the first 4 points of the second quarter. Sharp then opened up the Pirates scoring for the quarter by making a field goal. Lancers 22, Pirates 10. A 13 point Lancer run made it a 25 point game. The Pirates followed that up with a pair of Katie Keller baskets and a Sharp 3 to make it 35-17 Lancer. The Lancers would put in the final points of the half. 37-17 Lancers at half.
The second half had the Pirates bettering the Lancers by 2. After the Lancers put in the first basket of the second half the Pirates responded with a 7 point run fired by a Sharp basket and a 2 and 3 pointer by Kerri Prowant. Lancers 39, Pirates 24. A 4 point Lancer run was met with a 4 point Pirates run with Keller and Catelyn Etter hitting baskets for the Pirates. The two teams would trade points to end the quarter with Sharp hitting a pair of free throws. Lancer 45, Pirates 30 after 3.
The Lancers would open up the 4th with a pair of baskets. Sharp opened up the Pirates final quarter scoring with a basket. Lancers 49-32. Another 4 point run by the Lancers was stopped when Sharp would hit a 3. Lancers 53-35. A third 4 point run in the 4th by the Lancers ended when Armey put in 4 free throws. Madi Sharp led the Pirates with 18 points. Addyson Armey finished with 8. Kaitie Keller had 6, Kerri Prowant 5, and Catelyn Etter 2. Sharp and Prowant both hit a 3 for the Pirates. The Pirates were 8-10 from the line with Sharp and Armey both going 4-4.
Continental falls to 0-2 and will host Hicksville on Thursday. Lincolnview is now 1-0.
