Lancers Spoil Pirate Girls Basketball 2022-23 Debut

A great start by the Continental Girls Basketball went for naught as Lincolnview took control of the game after a Pirate cold spell in the season opener for both teams at Continental.  The Lancer put in 6 of the first game’s first 7 points. Olivia Logan put in a free throw for the Pirates first point of the season.  The Pirates took an 8-6 lead with a 7 point run fueled by a Cheyene Rose basket, Logan free throw and a pair of baskets by Olivia Crossgrove.  The Lancers would convert a pair of 3 point plays and hit a 3 at the buzzer to take a 15-8 lead after 1 quarter.
The Lancers would make it 17-8 by scoring the first basket in the second quarter.  Pirate Bryn Tegenkamp stopped the Lancer run with a basket, Lancers 17-10.  A Lancer 3 and made free throw was followed up by a Crossgrove basket.  Lancers 21-12.  A pair Lancer baskets was followed by a Tegenkamp free throw and 3 to make it 25-16.  A Lancer basket at the buzzer made it 27-16 Lancers at half.
The Pirates cut the Lancer lead to 9 with a pair of made free throws by Macie Cordes Lancers 27-18.  A Lancer made free throw was followed by a Cordes and Logan basket and it was a 6 point game Lancers 28-22.  The Lancers put in a 3 that was followed by a Makenzie Shock 2 to make it Lancers 31-24.  The Lancers would then go on a 19 point run to take control of the game.  The Lancers would score the last 6 points of the third quarter, including another basket at the buzzer to take a 37-24 lead after 3.
The Lancers would put in the the first 14 points of the fourth quarter to take a 50-24 lead.  Tegenkamp would make a pair of baskets split by a Lancer basket for the 52-28 Lancer final.
Bryn Tegenkamp led the Pirates with 10 points and 1-3 pointer.  Olivia Crossgrove put in 6 points.  Macie Cordes and Olivia Logan both scored 4.  Makenzie Shock and Cheyene Rose both contributed 2 points.  The Pirates made 1-3 pointer while the Lancer made 5.  The Pirates were 5-10 from the line.
Continental falls to 0-1 and will host Hicksville on Tuesday.  Lincolnview improves to 1-0.
