— The Putnam County District Library (PCDL) is searching for a part-time computer instructor for the Guiding Ohio online and Americorps programs. This individual will help our patrons learn basic computer and web skills, along with an introduction to more advanced technology. The instructor will focus on digital literacy needs inside the library and in outreach programs. An understanding of basic computer programs, patience with beginning users, and the ability to explain tasks in an easily understood fashion are required. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-starting, able to multi-task, and willing to work evenings and weekends.
Guiding Ohio is an 11-month, 900-hour position, beginning in October 2015. (Average of about 19 hours per week.) Benefits include: a living stipend, forbearance on federal student loans, paid interest on the loans during your service, and an educational bonus at the end (which can be applied to your federal loans, applied to future education, or transferred to a designated recipient). There will be occasional training sessions in Columbus (mileage and time paid), so transportation is required.
