“Let’s Send Cancer Packing” is the theme for the 2013 Putnam County Relay For Life on May 31 at the Ottawa Glandorf football stadium. The event begins at 6:00pm with the Survivor Lap – a special tribute to all who have battled cancer and won. The evening then takes on a carnival atmosphere with an auction, dance performances, and inflatable rides while all the various relay teams are set up around the track for one final opportunity to raise funds for their team. There will be games and prizes, root beer floats, sandwiches, raffles, etc, available throughout the evening. At 10:00pm the Luminary Ceremony begins which honors all those who’s life has been cut short by this disease. There are activities scheduled all night long to encourage those walking on the track. The Relay ends at noon on Saturday, June 1.
Continental’s own, Matt and Mindy Houck, are the co-chairs of Putnam County’s 2013 Relay for Life. There are two teams from Continental this year – “Wagner’s Wanna Be Cancer Free” and “Friends and Family for a Cure”. The public is invited to come out, walk a few laps, stop and visit with the teams, and support the local Relay For Life.
