Monday night saw Continental High hosting Miller City in a key Putnam County League baseball game that would decide who would end up as champion for 2025. The Wildcats held onto first place but an upset by the Pirates would mean a three way tie of the title with Leipsic and Kalida. The Wildcats came in as the #4 ranked team in the latest OHSCA DVII Poll. It was the Wildcats night as they bested a Pirate team that fought hard throughout the game. The Wildcats took an early 1 run lead in the top of the first and expanded their lead to 4 in the top of the second. The Wildcats would put 3 more on their total in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. The Pirates would rally for a run in the bottom of the sixth but that would finish up the game scoring. Wildcats 7-1.
Miller City out hit the Pirates 9-5 and did not commit an error while the Pirates committed 2.
Jayden Pitney started for the Pirates and went 4 inning giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Aiden Daisy finished the game for the Pirates going 3 inning giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.
Continental falls to 4-16 (1-6 PCL). The Wildcats improve to 20-3 (6-1 PCL) and are the PCL Champs. The game marked the final regular season home game for the Pirates. Good Luck to Pirates Seniors Jaxson Slatman and Dax Warner.
