Paulding Panthers – 7, Lady Pirates – 0
The top of the order made all the difference for Paulding as the host Panthers defeated Continental in a rescheduled game on Monday. Originally scheduled to play in the season opener, the Panthers plated 5 runs in the bottom of the first and the 2 more in the bottom of the fifth for the games only runs. The top of the Panther lineup up scored all 5 runs and had 4 of the Panthers 8 hits.
Continental offense was led by Tori Searfoss who went 2-3 with a double and triple. Reese Knowles, Lauren Williams, Aislynn Nonsinger, and Kimberly Grant all has singles for the Pirates.
Graice Homier pitched the complete game for the Pirates going 6 inning giving up 5 runs (3 earned) with 4 strikeouts. Continental falls to 6-8 and will travel to Kalida on Tuesday for a PCL game. Paulding improves to 4-9.
Antwerp Archers – 16, Pirates – 0
Continental welcomed Antwerp baseball on Monday by letting them score runs in the first 4 innings. The Archers put 3 on the board in the top of the first and followed that up with 3 in the second to take a 6-0 lead. An 8 run third inning expanded the Archer lead to 14-0. A pair of runs in the fourth by the Archers finished off the days scoring. Archers 16-0.
Sam Newsome, Alex Heidenescher, and Ethan Sullian all hit a single for the Pirates. Newsome stole a base and picked up a walk.
Sam Newsome started the game and picked up the loss for the Pirates. Newsome went 2.2 innings giving up 14 runs (12 earned) on 7 hits, 5 strikeout and 8 walks. Braxton Stegbauer finished the game for the Pirates goine 2-1 inning giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, 1 strikeout, and 2 walks.
Continental falls to 2-11 and will travel to Kalida on Tuesday for a Putnam County League game. The Wildcats are ranked 21st in the latest DIV pool. Antwerp improves to 6-9.
