- On September 18, in conjunction with National Back to Church Sunday, a special celebration is being planned.
- There will be a special service Sunday morning at 10:30am.
- At 12 noon, there will be a picnic lunch. A special program will follow the picnic.
- We invite anyone who attended North Mount Zion Church in the past and anyone interested in helping us celebrate to come join us for this day of praise and thanksgiving.
In 1856 a log cabin was erected on a knoll above Powell Creek, on the northeast side of the parcel of ground that became North Mount Zion cemetery. It was used by the Methodist Circuit Riders and was called Powell’s Creek Church. It was among the first buildings in this dense, swampy region. Adam Perrin, John Grant, John and Eli Fickel, Hiram Madden, William Moore, D.D. Barnes, James Early, Samuel Birge, D.D. Murphy, and Solomon McCullough were some of the first members. After 160 years of ministry, we are active and still going strong. The teaching of the Word of God and loving one another are still the focal points of our ministry. Our worship is simple and spiritual; our messages are expository. you are invited to visit North Mount Zion Church, meet new friends, and become a part of an authentic Church community.
