OHSAA recently announced the Division Assignments for the 2020 tournament season.
Boys
All Putnam County League schools stayed in the same division (IV). There were 2 teams that played in the Elida District (where Continental played) that moved onto Division III (Lima Central Catholic and Wayne Trace) so a shuffling of teams around in the District is bound to occur.
There are 200 schools in boys Division IV. Twenty-two teams moved into Division IV this year with 4 from the Northwest District moving down. Carey, Gibsonburg, Spencerville, and New London join the Northwest District Division IV field. Eight teams from the Northwest District moved up Allen East, Colonel Crawford, Lima Central Catholic, Maragetta Castalia, Montpelier, Ottawa Hills, Riverdale, Seneca East and Wayne Trace. Federal Hocking Stewart is the largest Division IV school with 127 boys.
Girls
All Putnam County League schools stayed in the same Division (IV). Delphos Jefferson is the only team in the Elida District (where Continental played) that moved onto Division III.
There are 199 schools in girls Divison IV. There were 12 teams in moving into Division IV this year with 4 being from the Northwest District. New London, Seneca Ease, Plymouth, and Monroeville join the Northwest District Division IV field. Seven Northwest District teams moved from Division IV to Division III (Wynford, Van Buren, Kansas Lakota, Carey, Delphos Jefferson, Riverdale, and Hopewell Loudon. Fort Frye Beverly and Newton Falls are the largest girls Division IV programs with girls enrollment of 112.
