The Ohio High School Athletic Association has officially announced the cancellation of all remaining winter sports tournaments Thursday.
Prior to today, tournaments were considered postponed; however, it became clear that their cancellation was inevitable as OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass acknowledged last week that the window was closing on their continuation.
As a result, Ohio will not be crowning state champions in hockey, wrestling and girls’ and boys’ basketball in 2020. “I cannot put kids at risk for this,” Snodgrass said.
Sondgrass remains optimistic regarding the possibility that Spring sports could be played in some reduced capacity.
