The OHSAA Volleyball Division IV Kalida District has teams that are up to 71 miles apart. Worst case scenarios for Continental is either a 71 mile trip to Fort Recovery to take on the #3 ranked Division IV team in the state or a 64 mile trip to #1 ranked St Henry for a sectional game (sectional games are hosted by the better seeded team). Best case scenario is win the sectional final and make the 15 mile drive to Kalida.
The Kalida District features the #1 ranked DIV team in the state St Henry and #3 Fort Recovery. Other top teams in the District are Crestview, Lima Central Catholic and Lincolnview. Those 5 teams have a combined record of 63-9. Which means that at least one of these fine teams will not make it to the Kalida District. With 13 teams in the District only 3 byes to sectional finals will be available.
The Northwest District has reduced from 6 District sites to 5 which explains the growth in District team size. Last year the Northwest District sent 3 of the 4 teams that played at State.
District draw is Oct 6 with Sectional games being held Oct 15 and Oct 17. District games at Kalida are on Oct 21 and 24.
