Senior Paige Ordway cumulates her excellent high school career with a return to the State Track Meet in three events – the 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and long jump. Paige has qualified for State in the 300 meter hurdles the last two years with last year scoring a fifth place.
This year at the OHSAA Divisoin III Tiffin Regional Paige started her qualifying effort on the Track with the 100 meter hurdles. In Wednesdays prelims Paige ran a 15.87, good for the top seed in Fridays final. In the Finals Paige placed third with a time of 16.05. The winning time was 15.71 by Columbus Grove’s Sydney McCluer.
In the 300 meter hurdles Paige turned in the best preliminary time with a 45.95 effort. In the finals Paige took second with a time of 46.05. Evergreen’s Carly Truckor ran a 45.99 for the victory.
In the field events Paige competed in the long jump and placed third with a 16’ 4” effort. Winner in the long jump was Brittany Holbrook of Upper Scioto Valley with a 16’9” effort.
The other qualifier for the Tiffin Regional Track meet from Continental was the 4 x 100 meter relay team. Junior Andrea Krendl, Freshmen Paige Lawhorn, Brilley Collier, and Kacie Quigley ran a 55.63 in the prelims and did not qualify for the finals.
Overall the Pirate girls finished with 20 points good for 13th place in the regional. Tiffin Regional Champion was Tinora with 71.5 points while Liberty Center was second with 50 points.
Paige will compete in the Division III State Prelims on Friday at the Jesse Owens Memorial Track Stadium on the campus of Ohio State (Columbus). The 100 meter hurdle prelim is at 10 am while the 300 meter hurdle prelim will be at 11:20 am. The long jump finals will be held on Friday at 1 pm. Finals for the hurdles are Saturday with the 100 meter ones starting at 9:30 am and the 300 meter ones starting at 10:40 am.
It is believed that Paige is the first Continental female trackster to qualify for State in three events. Good Luck Paige!!
